Tool 01 —

Its a tool for anything. Tool 01 does not have a specific function. It has been designed as a sum of practicality or usability potentials. Its instantly understandable, it fits in your imagination. You can redefine Tool 01 as you go along. Its role appears mostly mysterious, but its potential is very high in many situations.

It is welded from an 8mm steel rod and covered with a high quality vinyl coating that is food safe and very resistant. Its soft surface gives Tool 01 a strong grip and protects against scratches.

I designed Tool 01 as a quick product research project. The concept was to give the user a potentially useful item and let them improvise and invent uses for it. It turned out quite successful and a thousand pieces were produced. I collected a lot of responses and evaluations from users which will be used for development of other products.

The international launch of Tool 01 was at the IMM Cologne in January 2010. The czech launch was done in the form of a theatre performance "Tool 01" in March 2010 in Ponec Theatre, Prague. — M Ch
