Table 01 —

Table 01 is the first table I designed for production. The development lasted from january till june 2011, I consulted with Jakub Korous, Michal Peřina and Martin Žampach, the parametric models and technical documentation were done by Martin Žampach. The table is in production by LUGI furniture maker.

Table 01 is the second interpretation of the construction logic I used for Barstool 02. Only this time I applied the same structural thinking and production technique to three legs and a much larger object. It is again the diagonal sticks that dictate the unique looks of the table, they give it strength by connecting the legs and they provide many opportunities to hang personal belongings. A folded coat can hang neatly over the gently sloping stick, the handbag can hang on one of the ends. —

As with Barstool 02 and Coatstand 01 we use CNC technology and solid ash wood to produce precise components. The construction behaves like a locking mechanism and the table is strong even when it is not glued yet.

For the table top we use the same ash wood as for the rest of the table. Using solid wood in such a large amount (900mm across) makes it difficult to maintain the straightness of the surface and it would probably end up dish-shaped after a few months. To prevent this we use a simple T-profile stainless steel reinforcement that holds the wood flat. — M Ch

Table 01 is available through the Stockist showroom and in use at HUB Prague.

Table 01 is produced by LUGI.

1 — 1075mm height makes this the ideal bar table that works with barstools and is well suited for stand up situations.

2 — Three legs give the table perfect balance on all surfaces. The more weight is hung on the table the more stable it gets.

3 — The table here has a surface finish C – warm saturated ash. See the sampler for other options.

4 — Looking underneath the table is quite rewarding. There is no back side to it, even the under parts are all finished with top attention.

6 — The laser engraving is precisely aligned with the mirror polished stainless steel reinforcement. This is the LUGI approach to detail in furniture.
